Mataram, August 22, 2025 – The State Hindu Institute (IAHN) Gde Pudja Mataram organized a blood donation drive today at the Wantilan Pura Saraswati, IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram campus, as part of its commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The activity was a direct follow-up to a coordination meeting held at the Senate Room of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, which brought together the Head of Hindu Community Guidance, Hindu Religious Affairs Officers of Mataram City, Hindu community leaders, the board of Wanita Hindu Dharma Indonesia (WHDI) Mataram, and the leadership of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram.

The initiative reflects the institution’s dedication to public health and social welfare. Several social programs have been planned, including cervical cancer screening (Pap smear), blood donation, and mass medical treatment. Among these initiatives, today’s event highlighted the blood donation drive, aiming to foster a culture of care, solidarity, and community service. According to the organizing committee, the blood donation program not only helps address the urgent demand for blood supplies but also encourages students, staff, and the Hindu community to actively participate in humanitarian efforts.

“Through this activity, we hope to contribute to the well-being of society while strengthening collaboration between religious leaders, institutions, and the community,” said one of the IAHN officials. The Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., further elaborated: “This blood donation program is part of our campus’s social concern for others. We believe that higher education institutions must not only serve as centers of learning and research but also as agents of social change. By encouraging our students, lecturers, and the community to participate in humanitarian activities such as blood donation, we are fostering empathy, solidarity, and a spirit of service to humanity.”

The blood donation drive at Wantilan Pura Saraswati was attended by dozens of students, lecturers, and members of the local Hindu community. The event received enthusiastic participation, with many volunteers stepping forward to donate and show support for the program. Representatives from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Mataram City were also present to provide professional medical assistance and ensure that the blood collection process was carried out safely and effectively. The activity was held in collaboration with the Blood Donation Unit of PMI West Lombok, highlighting the importance of synergy between educational institutions and health organizations in supporting public health services.

This activity is expected to become a regular agenda at IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram. By integrating education, religion, and social service, the institute hopes to inspire a broader movement of health awareness and community care, in line with the spirit of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
