IAHN GDE PUDJA MATARAM HOSTS CAPACITY-BUILDING PROGRAM ON HUMAN RIGHTS

IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram held an important human rights capacity-building program on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at the 3rd-floor meeting hall of the university’s Rectorate Building. The event brought together approximately 150 participants, consisting of members of the IAHN academic community as well as invited guests from various external institutions. Among the attendees were leaders of Hindu organizations in Mataram City, representatives of the Women’s Hindu Dharma Indonesia (WHDI), Hindu religious instructors from the Mataram Office of Religious Affairs, and other distinguished invitees.

Carrying the theme “Strengthening Human Rights Capacity within the Campus Environment,” the program aimed to deepen understanding, awareness, and commitment to human rights principles among educators, students, and community leaders. The presence of high-level speakers and stakeholders underscored the urgency of building a campus culture rooted in respect, dignity, and social responsibility.

The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Stanislaus Wena, Special Staff to the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia for Inter-Institutional Relations and International Affairs. Accompanied by his team, Mr. Wena delivered comprehensive insights on the current landscape of human rights issues, strategic roles of higher education institutions, and the importance of inter-agency collaboration in promoting human rights protection.

The program was officially opened by the Vice Rector for General Administration and Finance, as well as Human Resource Development and Planning, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Aditi, S.H.,M.H., who warmly welcomed the initiative. In his remarks, the Vice Rector expressed deep appreciation for the implementation of this activity, emphasizing its relevance and alignment with the university’s commitment to fostering ethical, inclusive, and socially conscious academic practices. He also highlighted the hope that such engagements would inspire continued collaboration and contribute to strengthening human rights literacy across the campus.

Looking ahead, the university hopes that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for continuous programs and partnerships aimed at enhancing human rights awareness within academic and societal settings. It is expected that further collaborations with government agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions will expand opportunities for training, dialogue, and research on human rights issues. By maintaining this momentum, IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram aspires to become a leading center for human rights education in the region.

The event concluded on a warm and collaborative note. Following the presentation and discussion sessions, all participants gathered for a group photo session, symbolizing collective commitment and serving as an important part of the event’s documentation.
