REVITALIZING YOGA VALUES: IAHN GDE PUDJA MATARAM AND SVCC STRENGTHEN INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION IN COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM

Mataram, Indonesia — A vibrant and culturally enriching international community service program unfolded on Friday, 21 November 2025, as the Hindu Communication Studies Program of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram partnered with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) Bali. Set against the refreshing backdrop of the Green Open Space (RTH) on Jalan Batu Bolong No. 2, Pagutan Barat, the event successfully drew the attention of approximately one hundred participants. They came from diverse backgrounds—university students eager to broaden their perspectives, lecturers committed to academic development, members of the general public, and dedicated yoga practitioners from local communities—all united by a shared interest in spiritual communication and holistic living.

With the theme “Revitalization of Yoga Values as a Medium of Spiritual Communication to Achieve a Balanced and Harmonious Life,” the event aimed to reintroduce yoga not merely as a physical discipline, but as a profound medium for nurturing inner clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual connection. The presence of institutional leaders—including the Rector, Vice Rector, Dean, and the Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram—added depth and importance to the program, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to collaborative innovation and the promotion of intercultural understanding.

One of the most anticipated moments of the program was the arrival of Shree Naveen Meghwal, Director of SVCC Bali, who served as the keynote speaker and yoga instructor. The event commenced with an official opening ceremony, followed by warm remarks from the Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., who expressed sincere appreciation for the partnership and emphasized its significance in enhancing academic enrichment while fostering spiritual well-being. His message highlighted how initiatives like this not only strengthen institutional ties but also contribute meaningfully to community empowerment.

A major highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between SVCC and the Faculty of Brahmawidya, Dharma Sastra, and Dharma Duta, represented by Dean Faculty, Dr. Putu Somiartha, S.E.,M.Si. This signing marked an important milestone, symbolizing a long-term commitment to deeper academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared research endeavors. It also underscored the growing role of international partnerships in enriching the academic environment and expanding the horizons of students and faculty alike.

Following the formal proceedings, participants were invited to join a yoga practice session led directly by Mr. Naveen. The session provided an immersive experience, blending physical postures with mindful breathing and reflective awareness—reminding participants of yoga’s potential to harmonize body, mind, and spirit. The energy of the session carried into the subsequent Yoga Workshop, where concepts, techniques, and philosophical foundations were elaborated upon in a manner that was both accessible and inspiring. The program continued with an insightful Talk on the International Gita Mahotsav, giving attendees a broader understanding of global spiritual celebrations, and a Scholarship Presentation introducing opportunities through ITEC and ICCR, which sparked strong interest among students exploring international study pathways.

As the day progressed, the atmosphere remained warm and engaging. The final session featured a screening of the acclaimed film English Vinglish, offering participants a moment of reflection and emotional resonance through its themes of self-discovery and personal empowerment. The inclusion of the film provided a balanced close to a day that blended physical activity, academic enrichment, cultural appreciation, and personal insight.

Throughout the event, participants displayed consistent enthusiasm, attentiveness, and a genuine eagerness to absorb every part of the program. Their active engagement reflected the success of the event in creating not only an educational experience but also a meaningful space for spiritual communication and cultural dialogue. The program concluded with a group photo session, serving as a lasting documentation of a day marked by collaboration, inspiration, and shared commitment to cultivating harmony in both academic and community life.
