Mataram, 7 February 2026 — Institut Agama Hindu Negeri (IAHN) Gde Pudja Mataram continued its Green Dharma initiative through the theme “Bhakti Pertiwi for Nusantara Jaya” as part of the sacred observance of Tumpek Uye, a holy day dedicated to honoring animals and the natural world. Held on Saturday, 7 February 2026, the activity also served as a continuation of the Green Dharma program conducted the previous day and demonstrated the institute’s commitment to supporting the Asta Protas of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The activity took place at Pura Dalem Swasta Pranawa, Abian Tubuh, Cakranegara, and was implemented as a Community Service program managed by the Economics Management Study Program of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram. The program was chaired by I Gede Bayu Wijaya, M.M., and carried out in collaboration with INTI (Perhimpunan Indonesia Tionghoa) of West Nusa Tenggara and BPDAS (Balai Pengelolaan Daerah Aliran Sungai) NTB.

Participants included all civil servants (ASN) within IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, a number of students who also served as the organizing committee, representatives of INTI and BPDAS, leaders of Hindu organizations in NTB, religious figures, and local community leaders. This broad participation reflected strong institutional synergy and community support for environmental conservation initiatives.

The main activities consisted of tree planting in the temple area and the release of dozens of birds, symbolizing compassion, harmony, and responsibility toward all living beings. These actions embodied the spirit of Bhakti Pertiwi, expressing devotion to Mother Earth through concrete and sustainable practices.

The event began with a ceremonial session officially opened by the Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd.. In his address, the Rector emphasized that honoring Mother Earth should not be limited to prayers alone, but must be manifested through ethical behavior and real actions, such as planting trees and showing compassion toward all of God’s creations. He related this message to the universal Hindu prayer:
“Om Sarve bhavantu sukhinah,Sarve santu niramayah,
Sarve bhadrani pasyantu,Ma kascid duhkha bhag bhavet,”
Which expresses the hope that all beings may be happy, healthy, see goodness everywhere, and be free from suffering. The Head of Krama Pura Dalem Swasta Pranawa warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed sincere appreciation for the concern and positive contribution shown through the activity. He noted that such programs not only preserve the sanctity of the temple environment but also strengthen communal awareness of environmental responsibility.

Meanwhile, Head of LPPM IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Dr. Ni Luh Sinar Ayu Ratna Dewi, S.S., M.Ag., stated that the Green Dharma activity represents a concrete implementation of Hindu religious teachings while simultaneously supporting the Asta Protas of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and contributing to the achievement of the SDGs, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and social harmony. Representing INTI NTB, Mr. Sang Joko Wijonarko expressed his organization’s commitment to continuously supporting environmental conservation efforts, including greening programs and other social activities, which form an integral part of INTI’s mission.

At the end of the ceremonial session, prior to the tree planting and bird release, souvenirs in the form of appreciation awards were presented to representatives of INTI, symbolically received by Mr. Sang Joko Wijonarko, and to BPDAS NTB as a token of gratitude for their collaboration and support. Overall, the Green Dharma activity ran smoothly and was marked by a warm, friendly atmosphere, reflecting strong cooperation between academic institutions, community organizations, and local stakeholders. Through this initiative, IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram reaffirmed its role not only as a center of academic excellence, but also as an institution actively engaged in fostering spiritual values, environmental awareness, and harmonious community relations.
